Art Prize....Farmhouse style!

Happy Friday!

For the past couple of weeks,  the buzz around town and all over social media in our neck of the woods is about Art Prize...a huge (like 1500 entries, huge), free, and very family friendly art exhibit spread all over downtown Grand Rapids. The artists use all different types of media,  some as simple as a pencil, and some even use plastic milk crates!  If you haven't checked it out in person,  check out some of them on artprize.org.

Well, we don't have 1500 pieces,  and the art critics would be very cruel to us.... but this past week we created a couple..ok.. more than a couple..like 48 or so things for our up coming sale (more details next week! ) But... our biggest accomplishment this week was like winning ArtPrize for us!!!

We found an old..I mean old.... and dirty table under a bunch of junk at a yard sale a few weeks ago. I (marcy) thought it looked like a very sturdy piece that we could possibly turn into a dry sink and drop a very old,  vintage,  dirty, high-back enamel sink that we rescued from a little, falling down barn that my brother had on the back of his property.
Mom didn't know if she had quite the same vision. .. but seeing that the table was unique, very sturdy... and only $10... she was willing to try and see my vision... and on the back of "Big Red" she went!

So....we had already cleaned up the table and painted it black..... and we used it as a "coffee" table at a wedding...so it has already been a good find. ... that brings us to this week. ....

This week we decided to try and "achieve the vision"! We measured the sink,  measured the table. .... re-measured the sink, and the table. ... decided we WERE going to really cut into this table.. artists take risks all the time. ...re-measured..... traced,  taped. .. and got the saw!

We don't think we are artists. .. at all. .. and we will never claim to be,  but we did feel the admiration for our piece of "art work" once we were finished cutting the sink hole. ..AND the table was still standing! !!
The next step dropping. ..yes truly "dropping"... the sink. ..it was so, so heavy!

Victory! Yes....our simple "art prize" victory!  The sink fit perfectly. .. no re-cuts! And....NO men (yes, sometimes they have to bail us out!)  And... the table stood standing. .. we thought it might be to heavy!
We even cut the front drawer down so it is still functional!
We decided to paint it a dark gray,  and even put a vintage faucet on!
Sooo... when can u check out our art prize piece?????
Soon, it will be in the barn. ...let's just say November 20 ;)

~Blessings
