Gather: to simply bring (things or people) together into a group

Over the years when we come home, the kitchen is where we tend to gather. We have spent many hours together laughing,  reminiscing, sharing, praying, dreaming,  and even crying with one another around the kitchen table....and of course it always involves food!

Sometimes it's Sunday dinner,  sometimes it's birthday cake, and sometimes it's just pizza. ...but mom's favorite part is the "presentation"!

( If you have ever been over to the farmhouse for dinner, you know what I mean! )

Mom LOVES to decorate her kitchen table...and she usually leaves a little room for the food (which she purchases from Costco ;) )

For a fun evening with friends, she would take a couple of fabric table runners and run them from chair to chair (not the conventional way). She would add 4 rustic pallet chargers with plates, flatware, and wine glasses...and enjoy the night. 

On the days when the kids come, it looks a little less formal like this:

She would use a pallet "table runner" as a buffet. She places the dinnerware or the actual "meat and potatoes" directly on the pallet runner (makes a great hot pad!)

And then the family digs in!
